FIRE Combustible. Gives off irritating or toxic fumes (or gases) in a fire.
NO open flames.
Powder, water spray, foam, carbon dioxide.
EXPLOSION Finely dispersed particles form explosive mixtures in air.
Prevent deposition of dust; closed system, dust explosion-proof electrical equipment and lighting.

EXPOSURE
PREVENT DISPERSION OF DUST!

  • INHALATION
    		• Cough. Sore throat. Blue lips or finger nails. Blue skin. Headache. Dizziness. Nausea. Confusion. Convulsions. Unconsciousness.
    		Local exhaust or breathing protection.
    		Fresh air, rest. Refer for medical attention. See Notes.
  • SKIN
    		• MAY BE ABSORBED! Redness. Blue lips or fingernails. Blue skin (further see Inhalation).
    		Protective gloves. Protective clothing.
    		Rinse and then wash skin with water and soap. Refer for medical attention.
  • EYES
    		• Redness.
    		Safety spectacles.
    		First rinse with plenty of water for several minutes (remove contact lenses if easily possible), then take to a doctor.
  • INGESTION
    		• (further see Inhalation).
    		Do not eat, drink, or smoke during work.
    		Induce vomiting (ONLY IN CONSCIOUS PERSONS!). Give plenty of water to drink. Refer for medical attention.
    SPILLAGE DISPOSAL STORAGE PACKAGING & LABELLING
    Sweep spilled substance into containers; if appropriate, moisten first to prevent dusting, then remove to safe place (extra personal protection: chemical suit with self-contained breathing apparatus).
    		Separated from strong acids, oxidants.

    PHYSICAL STATE; APPEARANCE:
     COLOURLESS CRYSTALS , WITH CHARACTERISTIC ODOUR.

    PHYSICAL DANGERS:
     Dust explosion possible if in powder or granular form, mixed with air.

    CHEMICAL DANGERS:
     The substance decomposes on heating or on burning producing toxic fumes including nitrogen oxides. Reacts with oxidants and strong acids.

    OCCUPATIONAL EXPOSURE LIMITS (OELs):
     TLV (as TWA): ppm; 10 mg/m3 (ACGIH 1995-1996).


    		ROUTES OF EXPOSURE:
     The substance can be absorbed into the body by inhalation of its aerosol, through the skin and by ingestion.

    INHALATION RISK:
     Evaporation at 20░C is negligible; a harmful concentration of airborne particles can, however, be reached quickly.

    EFFECTS OF SHORT-TERM EXPOSURE:
     The substance irritates the eyes, the skin and the respiratory tract. The substance may cause effects on the blood , resulting in formation of methaemoglobin. See Notes.

    EFFECTS OF LONG-TERM OR REPEATED EXPOSURE:
     The substance may have effects on the kidneys and blood , resulting in formation of methaemoglobin.
